In seasons or climates less conducive to corrosion, a wash every two weeks or so is adequate. Of course, these estimates may vary depending upon whether your car is kept in a garage or out in the elements. Your neighbors or your sprinklers may be the single worst enemy for your car’s paint if your car is parked in the driveway or outside.

The new modern acrylics, enamels, and clear coat finishes show more dirt and elements and require your new car’s finish to receive tender care immediately. 

Be very careful that you wash your car properly. It’s important that you exercise extreme care — especially when washing your new car for the first few times. Many initial washing errors result in soap flash, water spots, setting stains and loss of luster. Without the benefit of protective coating layers that your car will receive over the years, mistakes made during the first few washes may be hard to correct. 
Should you decide to wax your car, use a wax that’s compatible with your paint. Check your owner’s manual and the label on the wax container for instructions. The best advice is to trust your car’s finish to a professional from the beginning.

Yes! Most new cars have a high-gloss clear coat finish sealant. Be careful of the words “guarantee” and “warranty,” because they do not mean PROTECT. Most clear coat sealants last 6-9 months, losing protection effectiveness with time. The sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays, salt, and road wear and tear also contribute to diminishing the sealant. Wax is an effective and efficient way to add shine and protect a car’s finish. Wax your car every three to six months. More frequent waxes are needed if your car is red, black or white, because these colors are more susceptible to UV rays.

Most auto instruction manuals (under the vehicle care section) recommend you wax your car once a month for maximum protection. Usually that waxing schedule is necessary for harsh weather climates and coastal areas. Here in the Irving, Texas region, you can get away with waxing your car once every three months to maintain a beautiful shine.

No, our “soft touch” cloth foam brushes are specifically designed to apply appropriate friction for car washing. Many studies have been made comparing hand washing and machine washing, and in all cases, friction car washes have proven to be less harmful to paint than hand washes. Feel free to ask for a sample of the materials inside the tunnel that touch your car.

As long as your convertible top does not leak, we can wash it in our “soft touch” tunnel wash. If it does have leaks, we can hand wash it for you.

Yes. For safety reasons, there must be a driver at the wheel. All Metro Express Car Washes use extensive lighting and lots of glass, to create a comfortable, wide-open environment. We’ll give you easy to follow instructions, answer any questions you might have, and guide you through the process. 

We have a custom-designed “drying area” at the end of our wash process that uses heated air to dry your vehicle – without having to touch your car. You won’t need to hand-dry your vehicle (although if you want to bring along your own towel and give it a final detail before you leave, feel free to pull into our vacuum area and give your newly-clean car some personal attention).

We accept most cars, vans and trucks up to 84 inches in height. Unfortunately, we cannot wash trucks with dual wheels. We guarantee the safety of all factory-installed equipment in proper working order. 

Almost certainly. All we ask is that the pickup bed be empty before going through the wash. This is for the safety of your vehicle, and those of other customers. Also, some side-mirrors are incompatible with our process, and certain types of modifications that employ oversized or off-road tires or radically raised suspensions may not be compatible. 

Yes. Please make sure that the roof is properly latched. 

Yes. We use cloth wash materials and mild cleaners. However, the paint should be allowed to cure before washing. Consult with your body shop for curing times (usually at least 30 days for repainted cars and body parts). (Paint on new cars is fully cured before delivery.) 

Yes. Most car makers caution against automatic washes that use acids on polished aluminum wheels, since these can stain — or carbon or plastic tire brushes, which can scratch. At Metro Express we use no such acids, and only soft cloth washing material; so your wheels are perfectly safe. 

Yes. However, once the integrity of windshield glass is compromised by rock chips (even very small ones), it becomes more susceptible to changes in temperature. So, while you may wash your vehicle with windshield damage, cracks or chips may expand. It’s always best to repair or replace a damaged windshield immediately. 

Aftermarket products such as CB and cell phone antennas should be removed before washing; we’ll gladly attend to this when you arrive. 

Unfortunately, we can’t be responsible for aftermarket accessories made of plastic. Most customers who have bug shields wash their vehicles with no incident. However, problems can arise if the shield has already been damaged by rock chips, or by stress cracks around the installation screws (which can be hard to detect), or if it is made from low-grade plastic. If you need a new bug shield, we recommend products made of Lexan, which is virtually indestructible.
